State Sen. Ruben Diaz said he opposes Mayor Bloomberg?s congestion pricing plan even though many borough legislators approve of the project.
Several Bronx politicians recently endorsed PlaNYC, which includes congestion pricing as well as measures to clean up city air and parks. The plan would charge drivers to drive through busy parts of Manhattan during peak hours to ease traffic and clean up the environment, according to the mayor.
Diaz said there will be more traffic and less parking in the Bronx as a result of Bloomberg?s plan. He also said he has too many unanswered questions regarding the plan, including whether or not congestion pricing will actually improve the borough?s environment.
Diaz said the state legislature is expected to vote on congestion pricing in August.
