Many Bronx residents traveled to Manhattan Sunday to experience the sights and sounds of Puerto Rican pride at the National Puerto Rican Day Parade.
Spectators explained what it means to them to be Puerto Rican while they enjoyed the music and dancing. ?It means a lot of love and togetherness and hard work, and just so much I can't express it,? said one patron.
People cheered, waved flags and dressed in red, white and blue. Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. and congressman Jose Serrano showed their pride as well.
Bronx Puerto Ricans said they enjoyed showing their pride at this year?s parade, but their heritage is something they celebrate every day of the year.
Pop star Ricky Martin served as this year?s parade king and Bronx native Jennifer Lopez rode down Fifth Avenue as well.
