One Allerton resident calls the city?s recycling policies too complicated and confusing to follow.
Valentino Manfriedi says he has tried to follow the policies but feels the instructions are convoluted and unfair. According to Manfriedi, he was issued a $25 summons for putting the wrong item in a bin. Manfriedi asks how would the city know if someone walks by and throws in garbage in the wrong bins.
Manfriedi wrote a letter to the city in hopes of having the recycling policies changed. However, he says the response he received was even more confusing to him. The Department of Sanitation says it tries to educate residents on recycling and offers grace periods when the rules change.
