Residents in Morris Park say tree stumps left behind by the Parks Department are creating a mess in the neighborhood.
Some residents say the stumps are an eyesore. Others say the stumps are creating other problems such as termites. Community members and Councilman James Vacca (D-Bronx) are joining forces to get the stumps removed and trees planted in their place.
The Parks Department, which is responsible for removing trees, says most of the budget goes toward tree removal. However, the department says the stump removal budget is smaller and not a priority.
