Some elderly Bronx residents are complaining that the city?s Access-A-Ride service has become more of a hassle than a help. Sonja Cyrus-Estrada says at first, she thought the idea of the service, which provides transportation for people with disabilities who are unable to use public bus or subway service, was a dream come true. However, after two weeks, she says she was fed up with the complications. Cyrus-Estrada says she and many others constantly experienced problems with overbooking, delays and unsafe drivers and vehicles. Cyrus-Estrada called in to News 12 The Bronx?s Ask the Borough President program last week to express the service problems. Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion agreed with her concerns, saying, ?It sounds like a scam to me.? Carrion continued by saying that residents have complained about the Access-A-Ride for years. Access-A-Ride officials say the service has been improved over the years but still has some problems.
