How well do you know the the people running for Westchester's top law enforcement job?
News 12's senior reporter Tara Rosenblum profiles the candidates in the race to replace outgoing Westchester District Attorney Mimi Rocah, who announced last year that she wouldn't seek a second term.
Democratic nominee and former county judge Susan Cacace will face off against Republican attorney John Sarcone.
Both candidates stopped by News 12's Yonkers studios to take part in a special edition of Power & Politics to share their views on everything from gun violence to rising hate at home.
Choosing the person to hold the county's top law enforcement job is a big decision, with major public safety implications for for years to come.
Sarcone says he likes his chances - no matter how big the Democratic enrollment advantage is across the county - and says he believes he can make a difference as a DA.
Cacace says her entire life has been in Westchester County and believes she has the experience to do the job and make the people of Westchester safe.
Both candidates made their own pitch to voters.
"I'm appealing to you to use common sense...don't be tainted by what party I'm with or who's at the top of the ticket. This is serious. This is your opportunity to say we need a new sheriff in town," said Sarcone.
"I was victorious on Primary Day and I believe that back then as now I'm the most experienced candidate for the position," said Cacace."I have the triad of experience as an assistant in the office, as a defense attorney within Westchester and as a criminal court judge for almost 20 years."
