Central Hudson is offering a $5,000 reward for
any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person
responsible for vandalizing substations.
News 12 received exclusive photos from Central Hudson showing
the damage left behind at one of three substations in Dutchess County that were
broken into in late December. On top of damaged equipment, the person
stole copper wiring too.
A spokesman tells
News 12 what happened was not only illegal, but dangerous too.
"With safety being our No. 1 priority for our communities
and for our employees, it also puts the employees who investigate these matters
potentially in harm's way as well, and that's why we always strive to
get the message out there, especially in situations like this. Only highly
trained and certified professionals are allowed in these substations,"
says Joe Jenkins, of Central Hudson.
