Iconic music gets paired with elegant dance moves at Central Park Dance's production of "The Nutcracker."

"It's a spectacular community event," said Maria Bai, the artistic director of the dance school. "We started out small, the first nutcracker, and we have watched it develop where it has grown more and more throughout the years."

The production is now in its eighth year. There are two chances to see it on Sunday at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester.

"Doors open at 11:30 a.m., show at 12:30 p.m. for the early show. Doors open at 4 p.m. show starts at 5 p.m. for the late show," said Emily Schmalholz, a rep from the theater.

Over 100 dancers are featured in the show and, this year, two instructors from the dance school are playing the roles of the Nutcracker and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Lucy Nevin, who is playing the Sugar Plum Fairy, told News 12 that it's a big deal for them to share the stage with their students.

"That's super rewarding to see all of the words of wisdom that I passed down to them...But, also, it's a really fun experience because I feel supported as a teacher, too, dancing with students who look up to me," Nevin said.
