President Barack Obama signed into law Wednesday the renaming of the Chester post office in honor of slain First Lt. Louis Allen.
Allen and Capt. Phillip Esposito were killed in Iraq in a 2005 mine explosion. Staff Sgt. Alberto Martinez was charged in the attack but acquitted by a military jury.
Chester postal workers say this designation is a true honor because Allen's sister is a local mail carrier, and the fallen officer himself worked at the post office years ago.
"I think it's an honor that we could be connected in some way with somebody who made the greatest sacrifice," says postal worker Gerald Glickman.
The Brookside Avenue Post Office will be re-named the First Lt. Louis Allen Post Office.
