The religious and cultural celebration of Three Kings Day took center stage in Yonkers Saturday.
A float with the Three Kings made several gift-giving stops throughout the city before it arrived at Lincoln Memorial Park
Kids from around the area got gifts and learned about the holiday at the park — heralded by music, smiles and excitement.
Three Kings Day is observed 12 days after Christmas and celebrates when the three wise men brought gifts to baby Jesus.
In Mexican and Latin American communities, the tradition is marked by big feasts and gifts for kids.
"When the kings came to see Jesus and announced to the world that the Messiah had come, it is the biggest gift that the world has ever been given. That's the way that this community feels and they celebrate it, so we want to recognize that,” said South Broadway BID Executive Director Jessica Gordon.
It was the first time that Yonkers utilized a float to give toys to kids — but with its popularity, it doesn’t seem like it’ll be the last.
