Chris Christie says he is considering third presidential run in 2028
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said he is considering another run for president, though he plans to wait and see how Republicans fare in this year’s midterm elections. Christie made the comments Tuesday while speaking in New Hampshire at a summit focused on problem gambling.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is not ruling out a third run for the White House.
Christie, a Republican who ran unsuccessfully for president in 2016 and 2024, said Tuesday that he is considering a potential 2028 campaign.
“Anybody who comes up here and has ever run for president and not won and told you they’re not looking at it again is lying,” Christie said during an interview at the Granite State Summit on Responsible Gaming in New Hampshire. “Let me just promise you they are lying.”
Christie said he wants to see how Republicans perform in the November midterm elections before making a decision. He suggested that substantial GOP losses could prompt the party to reconsider its direction and leadership.
“If we do a lot of losing six weeks from today, I wonder whether we’re going to say, ‘OK, we need to change this approach,’” he said.
Christie said he is in no rush to decide and suggested that a decision could come sometime in 2027. He said any potential campaign would need a clear path to the Republican nomination.
Christie was in New Hampshire to deliver the keynote address at the Granite State Summit on Problem Gambling, held at Southern New Hampshire University. During the event, he called for tighter oversight of prediction markets and sports betting, including action by state attorneys general against companies he said are operating without proper regulation. Christie, 64, served as New Jersey’s governor from 2010 to 2018. Before that, he served as a Morris County freeholder — now called a county commissioner — and as U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey.
