More than two dozen City Council members are trying to block the mayor's plan to reorganize schools in the Bronx and the rest of the city. The New York Sun reports they are backing a resolution that calls for city and education officials to get more input from parents, teachers and students about the future of public schools. The resolution reportedly has the support of the Working Families Parties. The resolution comes as parts of Mayor Bloomberg's (R-NYC) plan to give more money and control to school principals in exchange for accountability are being implemented. The Department of Education is currently developing a data-sharing system that lets principals, school faculty and parents track student achievement.Details of the resolution will be announced Wednesday on the steps of City Hall.
