The approval of school construction on a contaminated Mott Haven site has parents worried about their children's safety at a nearby school.
City officials recently decided a $235 million campus complex will be built near Public School 156, despite the site testing positive for lead and mercury. The School Construction Authority promises to clean up the land.
However, the plan is drawing attention to P.S. 156, where parents fear their children are already at risk because they attend school in the area. Officials involved in the project plan to address all concerns at a public meeting January 18.
