The urgent care facility on White Plains Road in Eastchester shut
down on Wednesday.
CityMD says it has to think about the welfare and safety of its
own physicians and staff.
New Rochelle resident Yolanda Concepcion was one of several
people who showed up at the Eastchester office Wednesday morning only to be met
by signs on the front door saying the location is temporarily closed.
Concepcion says she is in desperate
need of a COVID-19 test.
"One of my co-workers tested positive for Omicron,
so they're having everyone tested before they go back to work,” she says.
Fleetwood resident John Totolis stopped by the
facility in needed a COVID-19 test on Wednesday.
"Yesterday afternoon I was too late. I
couldn't get a rapid test, and they said, ‘Come back tomorrow,’” he
says.
CityMD sent out a statement that it’s doing its best to keep
up with the demand of tests, saying in part: "Continuing to provide these
services to the community is a top priority; however, our physicians and
teammates are also a priority. To preserve our ability to staff our sites, we
are temporarily closing certain locations effective Dec. 22."
CityMD is directing people who would normally
come to the Eastchester location to visit their location on Central Avenue in
Hartsdale, which is still open.
The company says that closing certain sites now will allow them
to avoid future closures as the COVID-19 surge continues.
