Citing safety concerns, the Nyack school superintendent canceled a trip to France for students.
Nyack High School and a French school have participated in an exchange program for the last 15 years. About 30 students were slated to go to France Friday for 10 days. However, violence and strikes have been reported across the country in response to a proposal to change the law that governs employment of young workers. The Nyack superintendent says the purpose of the trip couldn?t be realized in that atmosphere.
Students from both schools were disappointed at the word of the cancellation. The exchange program is set to continue next year.
