A Clarkstown soccer coach who was found guilty of raping a minor is free on bail Friday as he appeals his verdict.
Mark Staropoli, 50, was found guilty of the rape and sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl on the Clarkstown Soccer Club?s traveling team. Staropoli was sentenced Tuesday to up to 20 years in prison.
Staropoli went before an appellate court in Brooklyn to appeal his verdict. The judge allowed him to post $200,000 bail until the court rules on his appeal.
