Construction trips up businesses in City Island
Bronx officials are beginning to respond to construction concerns in City Island that are causing more and more business owners to lose money.Water main replacement construction on City Island Avenue has been going on since the spring of 2006. Business owners in the area say the resulting inconvenience has caused them to lose customers and even forced them to close their store for days at a time. Some say they understand the construction is necessary and are working around its effects. City Island Pharmacy says it has been delivering prescriptions seven days a week to its patients.The City Island Chamber of Commerce says the surveys will be used in an upcoming meeting with a number of city agencies to discuss business owners? concerns. Construction is scheduled to be done by the summer of 2008.
