Ramapo police arrested a man for a Hillcrest burglary and say he is part of a large organized burglary ring that is suspected of crimes across the East Coast.
According to police, an abandoned car matched the description of a vehicle seen fleeing a burglary in Hillcrest on Nov. 2. Police say evidence found in the car linked 21-year-old Juan Medina and 24-year-old Anthony Escobar to the crime.
Police arrested Medina, of Queens, Monday and charged him with second-degree burglary. They say Escobar is still on the run along with a third suspect.
Investigators believe both Medina and Escobar are linked to Pablo Castro, who they say is the mastermind of the burglary ring. Castro is on the loose and was featured last summer on America's Most Wanted.
Police say the ring committed mostly daytime burglaries close to major roadways. They say they stole high-end jewelry and electronics up and down the East Coast.
