Cornwall-on-Hudson is getting ready to ring in the new year with its 21st annual ball drop!
Village officials and organizers say hundreds of revelers show up each year to celebrate at their Village Square on the corner of River Avenue and Hudson Street.
Nearby bars and restaurants will stay open late for people to get food and drinks, and there’s fireworks when the ball drops at midnight.
“We bring in people from all parts of Orange County, up north and from the city,” said Mayor James Gagliano. “We want to invite as many people as possible to eat at a restaurant, stop in our bars and enjoy our ball drop. It has really become a special event for us.”
Organizers say folks start lining the streets about 11:15 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
Next year, there’s plans for a “junior ball drop” earlier in the evening for kids.
