Hudson Valley parents are expressing more concerns about safety and security in our schools following this week’s deadly tragedy in Uvalde, Texas. 

Parents in Cornwall reached out to News 12 Thursday after an unauthorized teen was found inside the high school Monday. 

They sent student cellphone video of the teen being removed from the property by police. 

Cornwall officials say the 16-year-old is a student in another district and was let in the building by his girlfriend, who goes to school there.  

Superintendent Terry Dade said they have an Orange County sheriff’s deputy in each school in the district and gave a statement to News 12 about the apparent security breach. 

"I applaud the swift and effective action that was taken by our incredible staff to ensure the safety of our students,” said Dade. “One of our teachers noticed the unauthorized teen immediately upon entry into the building." 

Authorities say the unauthorized teen was released to his parent pending a future appearance in family court.

Parents also shared videos of two back-to-back fights at Cornwall High School on Monday – one that showed a male student with visible facial injuries after being punched and slammed to the ground in the bathroom. 

Officials say disciplinary action was taken and that no charges have been filed against the students.
