Hudson Valley officials say preparations are underway as Henri approaches the East Coast as a Category 1 hurricane.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer will issue a state of emergency on Sunday.
"We've shut down all our major recreation facilities, all our pools,” Latimer says. “We're also closing the county center, which is a vaccination site. If you have reservations, don’t come. We will rearrange a time for you."
Heavy flooding is expected on the Saw Mill River Parkway, the Bronx River Parkway and the Hutchinson River Parkway.
County police will be patrolling those areas to help motorists stranded by the floodwaters.
