A Brooklyn couple was killed Tuesday in a head-on collision on Route 17 in Goshen, where barriers were scheduled to be placed to prevent that type of accident.
The couple and their 4-month-old son were traveling east on Route 17, when apparently the driver lost control. Police say the car crossed over two lanes, the center median and careened head-on into the westbound lane, slamming into another vehicle. The couple died on impact, but their son made it out alive.
In just a couple of days, barriers are scheduled to be completed and placed in between the east and westbound lanes on Route 17 to prevent head-on collisions in that area. The barriers are already in place a half a mile down the highway.
The driver of the other vehicle and her passenger, both from Middletown, were taken to Arden Hill Hospital with minor injuries.
