Thursday’s weather is something crews with utility companies and local governments in Rockland have been preparing for since yesterday.
Orange & Rockland Utilities tells News 12 they have brought in 50 additional workers to join the already existing team that handles emergency responses.
Their crews will be available all day to fix outages.
"Between the saturated soil and additional tree foliage, it definitely poses a threat to our overhead lines,” said O & R spokesman Vito Signorile. “But we have been prepared for this. We are ready to go for today."
Rockland's Highway Department says it has cleaned off catch basins and checked on culverts. The department will be keeping an eye on known problem spots.
