Crews were on the scene of a fire in Scarsdale during the weather emergency on Friday.
The fire broke out at a home at 38 Graham Road around 12:15 p.m.
Scarsdale Fire Department Chief Christopher Mytych says there was heavy smoke from all sides of the structure when they arrived, and that there were initial reports that someone could have been in the house because there was a car in the driveway.
However, crews searched the home and verified that no one was inside.
Mytych says the fire was knocked down in 20 minutes.
"Inclement weather is never helpful. Unfortunately, many of our units were tied up on the side of the village. We had been running nearly 100 calls this morning that were due to the weather, so it took a very long time to get here. Fortunately, we were assisted by our mutual aid partners form Hartsdale, Greenville, Fairview and White Plains, and our response time was quite good as a result. However, units were stretched thins, so it was a very difficult morning and afternoon," said Mytych.
