Water is once again flowing to customers in the Riverside section of Paterson.

Passaic Valley Water Commission officials say crews have finished repairs on a 42-inch water main break that happened at North First and Arch streets over the weekend. Crews isolated the damaged section of the pipeline and restored water flow by Monday afternoon.

The break comes as the city and surrounding towns continue to deal with another major water main break that happened on Aug. 8.

Thousands of New Jersey residents have been under a boil water advisory for the last 18 days.

PVWC officials said that in order to repair this latest water main break, they had to pause the large-scale flushing program that was being done to clean the water from the Aug. 8 break.

“Flushing is a critical step to improving water quality and ultimately lifting the Boil Water Advisory. PVWC will revisit the flushing program [on Tuesday] to determine when to resume,” officials wrote in a statement.
