The Croton-Harmon Union Free School District is going green and showing off its first all-electric school bus.
A $120,000 grant through the New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program paid for the technology.
Officials say investments like these are important as a way to help maintain its students' health.
"All-electric school buses create cleaner air for our kids, bus drivers, and communities and now we look no further than Croton-Harmon to adapt these technologies,” says Vincent Riscica, Senior Project Manager – NYSERDA.
Electric school buses have zero tailpipe emissions, meaning zero toxins and carcinogens for kids to breathe in.
The district is getting a second electric school bus, which is scheduled to be delivered sometime this spring.
