DA: Hastings couple charged with manslaughter in Airbnb fire that killed mother, infant daughter
A Hastings couple has been charged with manslaughter in connection to a house fire that killed a mother and her 1-year-old daughter at an Airbnb, according to the Dutchess County district attorney.
Dennis Darcy, 57, and Meredith Darcy, 55, were the owners of the home where the fire happened last year in the Town of Clinton.
The fire killed 35-year-old Shannon Hubbard and her daughter. The husband and 3-year-old son survived.
The Dutchess County district attorney says an investigation revealed that the residence had no smoke detectors or alarms. In addition, the property owned by the Darcys was not in compliance with state fire, building and residential codes.
The Darcys were arraigned and bail was set at $50,000 cash for each defendant.
