A New York state trooper has been arrested for issuing more than 30 falsified traffic tickets and documents, authorities say.
The Westchester District Attorney's Office says 34-year-old Edward Longo, of Yorktown, is charged with 32 counts of offering a false instrument for filing and eight counts of official misconduct while patrolling the Sprain Brook and Taconic State parkways.
The DA's office says the defendant issued those tickets without performing a traffic stop or observing a traffic violation on eight different occasions between May 10, 2021 and Oct. 2, 2022. It also included one person who died prior to the issuance of the tickets.
Longo was place on administrative leave and is scheduled to be arraigned in Mount Pleasant Justice Court on Feb. 16.
