A Bronx man is being charged in the death of his daughter after she drowned in an overflowing bathtub last month.
Investigators say 1-year-old Leslie Castellano was left unattended for 15 minutes in the tub with her 3-year-old brother. They say the father, Daniel Castellano, walked away while the tub was being filled with water.
On May 7, a neighbor who lives underneath Castellano noticed water starting to pour through her ceiling. She says she went upstairs to inform Castellano, who then went into the bathroom to find his daughter underwater and unconscious.
Castellano ran, with his daughter in his arms, to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, where she remained in critical condition until her death on May 23.
Castellano is now being charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
He was released after arraignment, promising the judge he would appear for every upcoming court date. His next scheduled date is July 15.
