Regeneron employees volunteered their time Friday to build a new greenhouse for a Rockland preschool that serves children with disabilities.
The Katzen Early Childhood Education Center in New City got its new greenhouse Friday through Regeneron’s annual volunteer efforts called a “Day for Doing Good.”
“It was great to see them smile and see the work that's going into it," said Blair Diehl, a Regeneron employee.
News 12 is told the preschool has more than 100 kids and has an integrated program for students who do and do not have disabilities.
"It helps them to build self-confidence, it gives them the opportunity to play in the dirt and be kids, and learn all types of new skills,” says Randi Rios-Castro, CEO of Jawonio. “They learn how to grow plants and put in seeds and watch things grow. So, doing a project like this is very impactful for our children."
This is one of 130 local projects Regeneron employees will be taking part in over the next week.
