The Black Friday stampede that resulted in the death of a Wal-Mart worker on Long Island has prompted many Westchester shoppers to call for stricter security measures at local stores.

Many people in Westchester and the Hudson Valley were saddened and outraged after learning that 34-year-old Jdimytai Damour was trampled Friday morning by a crowd of shoppers at the Valley Stream Wal-Mart. A pregnant woman and several others were also injured in the stampede.

?This happens every year during Black Friday,? says Johnny Cruz, of Yonkers. ?Everybody gets hurt. They run into the store just to get $20 or $30 off the item.?

Many shoppers who arrived at the White Plains Wal-Mart Saturday say the tragedy has put their holiday buying and Black Friday ?door busters? in perspective.

Wal-Mart officials say they are cooperating with Nassau County police, and they are now reconsidering the way they organize and handle future Black Friday events.
