More than a dozen East Ramapo High School students who were involved in a gang fight earlier this month will not be allowed back to the school.

Of the 16 students who were arrested after the violent melee, one has been permanently suspended, six will now receive home instruction, seven have been put into a twilight program and will take classes after regular school hours and two cases are still pending.

"All 14 of the 16 warranted, in at least my judgment, being excluded at least until the end of the year," says East Ramapo Superintendent Dr. Ira Oustacher.

The superintendent held individual hearings for each of the students involved.

All 16 students involved in the fight are also facing criminal charges.
