Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim visited the Bridgeport bus terminal on Main Street on Sunday, meeting with people using the facility as an emergency warming center.

“We have asked Greater Bridgeport Transit to keep the doors open all night until tomorrow, because people need to have a safe haven during these potentially deadly temperatures,” Ganim said.

Bridgeport police said a homeless man was found dead outdoors on Boston Avenue on Jan. 31.

“In light of that death, we want to make sure we’re taking every step — and extra steps — to make sure the people of Bridgeport are safe, no matter what Mother Nature throws at us,” Ganim said.
