Protestors gathered in Peekskill Saturday to protest the Trump administration's proposal for a pipeline.
The demonstrators at Charles Point Park said they're ready to battle against the proposal that they fear will threaten the entire state.
They said the Trump administration is pushing for natural gas pipeline projects and they're asking Gov. Kathy Hochul to oppose those efforts.
"She went to D.C., he pressured her to approve the Constitution Pipeline, which the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation already denied, the Williams NESE Pipeline that's going to impact New York City and the expansion of the Algonquin Pipeline that runs under the Indian Point power plant," said Courtney Williams, the event's co-organizer.
Similar protests have intensified across the country this year, in the aftermath of a reported deal between Hochul and President Donald Trump that could fast track permits for the Williams Northeast Supply Enhancement and Constitution pipelines.
Political opposition also includes New York Lt. Gov. and now candidate for governor Antonio Delgado. He accuses Hochul of putting, "profit over people," for supporting the permit process and making a deal with Trump.
"The Williams Pipeline has the worst safety record of any pipeline company at all," said activist Jackie Weisberg.
