Despite the loss of seven players, the Wings Academy boys basketball team still plays like champions.
Seven players, including all five starters, graduated after last season, leaving Wings with only two seniors this year. The boys are the three-time defending borough champions, and they have gone to the final four in each of the last two years.
The team displayed strong play against the Clinton Governors on Thursday, winning 78-45. Ronald Baker contributed to the scoring, scoring a game-high 17 points.
With so many players leaving the team, Coach Billy Turnage is ready for a new start.
?We?re very young and inexperienced,? Turnage said. ?In a game like this, any time you can get your bench guys in and they can get extra periods of play it only makes them better.?
