On Wednesday, the Yonkers Police Department swore in Devarjaye "DJ" Daniel as an honorary police officer, as Daniel continues to battle with ongoing medical issues.

The Yonkers Police Department was just one of the 3,200 law enforcement agencies that have honored Daniel, who has aspirations to become a police officer when older.

In 2018, he was diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer and was given a prognosis of five months to live.

Despite this, DJ and his father, Theodis Daniel, have traveled all around the nation from Houston, Texas, defying those odds.

When asked if he had any advice for anyone going through a similar situation, Daniel's answer was simple.

"Keep your head up, don't give up on life, and have faith," he said.
