A former police officer turned Instagram model is among two women recently arrested for allegedly working together to extort $9,000 from a small cosmetology business.
Ally Thueson, 33, from Montgomery, is accused of threatening to publicly make false online statements about the business unless the owner paid up, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Thueson is a former deputy for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, according to prosecutors, and more recently worked as a police officer in the Town of Woodbury. Woodbury Police Chief Kevin Watson says she resigned in 2021.
In 2022, Thueson was interviewed for the "Off-Duty" podcast, in an episode titled “I Thrive In Chaos,” when she was a nominee for a Maxim Magazine 2022 Covergirl Contest.
Authorities say Thueson engaged in the behavior after her service as a law enforcement officer with co-defendant Elizabeth Sloanhoffer, 33, from Montgomery.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the duo threatened to slander, report fictitious violations to the New York State Board of Cosmetology and file complaints with the Department of Labor for alleged employee violations against a business that were untrue.
Both were charged by the Orange County White Collar Crime Task Force with grand larceny and coercion and were released on an appearance ticket.
News 12 reached out to Thueson and Sloanhoffer for comment but didn’t immediately receive a response.
