Access to care before, during and after childbirth is expanding for people in New York City.

Mayor Mamdani says MetroPlusHealth will be introducing Doula coverage for city employees with gold plan memberships starting in January. The move is part of the citywide Doula initiative.

The new benefit will include up to eight visits both before and after birth, as well as one in-person labor and delivery report visit.

More than 4,200 people have received Doula care through the citywide Doula initiative since its launch.
