Nyack Mayor Richard Kavesh says he estimates damage to the village alone to be about $250,000. He says he's hoping Rockland County will qualify for state or federal aid to help cover the costly clean up.

A state of emergency was declared in Rockland County yesterday as rising waters flooded homes, cars and businesses. Nyack Hospital has also been forced to activate its internal disaster plan after flooding damaged the kitchen, making it impossible to supply in-house food to patients.
