Some Hudson Valley residents celebrated Mother's Day by strolling down Nyack's "Mother's Day Promenade" Sunday
The event was part of “Nyack’s Spring Fling” and gave residents an opportunity to celebrate the women who've always gone above and beyond to put a smile on our faces.
"I'm really excited to close the streets, particularly on Mother's Day because it's such a great day to walk around with mom, go get brunch, go shopping with her, maybe for an after-Mother's Day present or something like that," said Joe Rand, a Village of Nyack trustee and Spring Fling organizer.
"Different eateries, we have different shopping, we have clothing, we have knitting, we have sewing, so there is a place for every mom to enjoy something," said Maria Luisa Whittingham, owner of Maria Luisa Boutique.
The Spring Fling also hosted many different types of events, from scavenger hunts to window decorating contests and even gave an opportunity to young entrepreneurs looking to promote their products and give back in the process.
"These are kids from 10 to 17 who are going to be selling their wears, things that they make, and a portion of those sales are going to the center for safety and change," Whittingham said.
