Driver in fatal Woodbury crash given $886 fine, 9 points on his license for death of Monticello man

A Spring Valley man blamed for a high-profile, fatal crash in the Town of Woodbury has pleaded guilty to several traffic tickets under a plea deal.
Chaim Gordon, 24, was driving among a caravan of vehicles carrying New Square Grand Rabbi David Twerskey in August of 2022 at the time of the fatal crash.
State police say Gordon crossed a double yellow line on Route 6 while speeding and hit a vehicle carrying 62-year-old Iksong Jin, from Monticello, head on.
Prosecutors said last August that there was no evidence to support any criminal charges and Gordon was instead issued several tickets for traffic violations.
Gordon was originally issued six tickets for reckless driving, speeding and other unsafe driving maneuvers. State police and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office later said that the reckless driving ticket was issued and filed in error, and it was dropped in October.
Town of Woodbury Court officials tell News 12 Gordon was fined $886 and issued 9 points on his license during his sentencing Jan. 3. Town court officials say Gordon pled guilty to a speeding ticket for traveling 76 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone, a hazard violation for an unsafe lane change and a parking ticket.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office says Gordon’s case records, on a county level, are now sealed.
