Police say that a driver whose car was found in the Hudson River has died.

The Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department says that 48-year-old Marcia Villa, of Ossining, was the only one inside of the vehicle at the time. They say that the car initially went into the Croton River Tuesday night, and then floated into the Hudson River.

She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but eventually died.

Police are looking into how the car ended up in the water.
