The brother of a vehicular manslaughter and DWI suspect says his family is stunned by a deadly turn of events.
Police say Carmen Huerta, 31, was drunk and lost control of her car while driving to a sleepover in the Bronx. An 11-year-old girl, Leandra Rosado, was pronounced dead at St. Luke?s Hospital.
Huerta?s brother, Javier, says he is shocked at the news. Carmen?s daughter, Brittany, was one of the seven other passengers in the car at the time of the accident.
Investigators say Huerta failed a Breathalyzer test. She is charged with vehicular manslaughter and DWI.
