Drivers want to put the brakes on a plan to place power lines under Riverdale Avenue where parking is already scarce.
Con Edison is in the early stages of a plan to dig up two miles along the road. The utility says Riverdale Avenue is the most direct route to Yonkers from the Bronx. The new cables would run between Yonkers and Inwood and would help energize the Bronx and Manhattan.
Drivers say while they?re in favor of progress, they don?t look forward to the problems the project will cause. They say finding parking on Riverdale Avenue is hard enough without having two miles of parking unavailable.
