About a dozen different drop off locations were set up throughout Rockland County Saturday to collect unused or expired medications for Drug Takeback Day.
The Foundations Recovery Community Center and the Prevention Education for East Ramapo Coalition organized the event.
Organizers also gave out packets for people to safely dispose of their medications at home, as well as emergency Narcan kits and lessons on how to administer it.
"The purpose of Drug Takeback Day is to bring awareness to the community, not just to take back expired medication, but also for the community to learn about substance use disorder, alcoholism and the support, the resources the community does have," said Fatima Chavez, of the Foundations Recovery Community Center .
Residents who missed Saturday's event can always stop by the Foundations Recovery Community Center to drop off their expired medications and get a lesson on how to administer Narcan.
