Dutchess Community College aviation student makes emergency landing in campground

The student, working to complete FAA's solo flight time requirements for a private pilot's license, landed at a campground in Terryville, Connecticut.

A student enrolled in Dutchess Community College's aviation science pilot program was forced to make an off-airport landing after experiencing a sudden mechanical failure during a solo flight from Poughkeepsie to Hartford.
The student, working to complete FAA's solo flight time requirements for a private pilot's license, landed at a campground in Terryville, Connecticut.
Fortunately, the student did not sustain any major injuries and was released from a Connecticut hospital after monitoring.
No injuries were reported from the ground. DCC officials are providing support and counseling for those involved.
