The Monroe Eagles baseball team is looking to win its second city championship when it hits the field against George Washington at Shea Stadium.
In 2004, Eagle Danny Almonte struck out 11 hitters for the complete game and one hitter for the city title. This year, Almonte heads to Shea with a 13-0 record. Monroe has been ranked as high as fifth in the nation this year and has beaten third-seeded George Washington three times.
The Eagles say they expect to finish the job in the PSAL A Division title game.
