Egg Harbor man pleads guilty to sexually assaulting young stepdaughter

An Egg Harbor Township man has pleaded guilty to sex offenses involving his young stepdaughter.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office says police responded to a report made by a girl under the age of 13 on May 11, 2023.
She stated that 50-year-old Rufino Carreon-Peralta had been abusing her, alleging he made her engage in sexual acts and involved her in filming sex activity.
Prosecutors say his guilty plea for the assault calls for a recommended sentence of 18 years in prison with no parole.
He faces a 10-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison for the child endangerment charge. Both are to run concurrently.
The sentencing is scheduled to take place on Oct. 10, according to prosecutors.
He will also be required to register as a sex offender upon release and be subject to parole supervision for life.
He is currently being held at Atlantic County Justice Facility.
