An electrical fire surged though a 29-story building on Southern Boulevard Tuesday morning, forcing hundreds of residents into the cold.
After the flames were brought under control by firefighters, Con Edison officials arrived on the scene at 2475 Southern Blvd. to determine the cause of the fire.
Following the fire, power was shut off in the building. Tenants were offered the option of boarding a parked city bus for warmth.
RY Management, the company in charge of the Mitchell-Lama housing complex, says power will be restored shortly. The company also promises to send a representative to communicate to the tenants.
