Several departments from Westchester, Rockland, Long Island, and out of state came together Saturday for a seminar in Tarrytown on fire safety and techniques.
The seminar has been hosted by the Elmsford Fire Department since the 1980s. The event honors Lt. Andy Fredericks, who died on 9/11 and was instrumental in training firefighters statewide.
“To keep our people safe and allow them to come out and do their job quickly, efficiently, and be able to go home safe to their families,” said Eugene Malone III, chief of the Elmsford Fire Department.
The seminar draws about 300 firefighters every year. Proceeds go to several charities, including those that support the families of fallen firefighters.
